LABORATORY INSTRUCTOR IN CHEMISTRY. The Department of Chemistry seeks applications from Ph.D. level chemists who are interested in laboratory teaching positions at Colorado State University to direct undergraduate chemistry laboratory classes. Successful candidates will contribute to the Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University through a range of activities associated with our upper division laboratory courses in analytical, inorganic and physical chemistry. The major commitment will be undergraduate chemistry laboratory instruction, management of graduate teaching assistants and work-study students, maintaining sophisticated analytical instrumentation, coordinating course schedules and development of curriculum in upper division laboratory courses. In addition, the laboratory instructor is expected to demonstrate interest in improving teaching and learning in the department through other activities. These can include but are not limited to activities such as classroom instruction, writing proposals to acquire new instrumentation or for other laboratory needs, improving methods for chemistry instruction; mentoring undergraduate students in outreach and research activities; developing new lecture demonstrations; developing and revising evaluation tools. In general, the instructor is expected to interact with other members of the department including faculty, staff and students, enriching and enhancing the undergraduate education program offered by the Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University. A Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field is required. Demonstrated experience with laboratory instruction, mentoring students, supervising graduate teaching assistants, proposal writing, and course development are preferred qualifications. CHEMISTRY LABORATORY SCIENTIST. The Department of Chemistry seeks applications from chemists who are interested in temporary teaching positions at Colorado State University to assist with undergraduate chemistry laboratory classes. Successful candidates will contribute to the Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University through a range of activities associated with our upper division laboratory courses in analytical, inorganic and physical chemistry. The major commitment will be maintaining sophisticated analytical instrumentation, working closely with laboratory instructors to coordinate course schedules and other logistics, ensuring laboratory safety including hazardous waste disposal, preparation of solutions and other laboratory materials for each lab session, and oversight of graduate student teaching assistants as needed. In addition, the laboratory scientist is expected to demonstrate interest in improving teaching and learning in the department through other activities. These can include but are not limited to activities such as assisting with proposal preparation to acquire new instrumentation or for other laboratory needs, improving methods for chemistry instruction; supervising work study students, mentoring undergraduate students in outreach; and developing new lecture demonstrations. In general, the laboratory scientist is expected to interact with other members of the department including faculty, staff and students, enriching and enhancing the undergraduate education program offered by the Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University. A BachelorŐs degree in chemistry or related field is required; an advanced degree in chemistry or related field is highly desired. POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW POSITIONS. The Department of Chemistry seeks applications throughout the academic year from individuals who are interested in obtaining postdoctoral research experience in the areas of analytical, biological, chemistry education, inorganic, materials, organic, or physical chemistry. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in an appropriate discipline. Salary is commensurate with level of training and research experience. RESEARCH SCIENTIST/SCHOLAR I, II, III, and Senior. The Department of Chemistry seeks applications from Ph.D level scientists engineers who are interested in temporary research positions at the Research Scientist/Scholar level. Level I is for individuals generally within three years of receiving their Ph.D and with significant professional accomplishments. Level II is analogous to the Assistant Professor title for regular faculty. It generally includes people with three to seven years of experience beyond the Ph.D. and very significant professional accomplishments. Level III is analogous to the Associate Professor title for regular faculty. It generally includes individuals with more than seven years of experience beyond the Ph.D, and with extremely significant professional accomplishments. The Senior level is analogous to the full Professor title for regular faculty. It generally includes individuals well beyond the Ph.D that have demonstrated outstanding, sustained, and extraordinary professional accomplishments as well as professional leadership. Ranking and qualifications within these levels are done on a case by case basis with factors that include the publication record, past research funding, professional honors and awards, decisive discoveries, and management experience. Applicable department research areas include, among others, analytical, biological, chemistry education, inorganic, materials, organic, and physical chemistry. The department also provides instruction of both undergraduate and graduate students.
