Introducing Applet Izzy, A 3D Molecular Viewer

"Izzy", a 3D molecular viewer is brought to you by Dr. W. Mason Skiff and General Molecular.

Molecule can be moved around by dragging the mouse over the applet's window while depressing the left mouse-button. Izzy is initially set for rotational motion. A circle with a white-dotted circumference is around the center of the molecule. Outside of the circle, drag the mouse clockwise to rotate the top of the molecule to the right. Inside of the circle, drag the mouse up to rotate the front of the molecule to the top, and drag the mouse to the right to rotate the front of the molecule to the right.

Click Izzy's button again to switch to translational motion. Drag the mouse right, left, up, or down to move the molecule in the same directions.

Click on Izzy's only button, using the left mouse-button, to switch to the zooming function. Drag the mouse to the right to magnify the molecule, and to the left to demagnify it.

Try out all of Izzy's mouse functions by moving the polymerization transition state shown below. The carbon atoms are gray, the hydrogen atoms are white, and the Zr and Al metals are purple.
