Jackson Lake
Lodge is located in the heart of Grand Teton Nat'l. Park. The
main lodge building, numbered 1 in the photo on the left, is the
site for all of the scientific activities of the conference (welcome
reception, plenary sessions, oral presen-tation sessions, speaker
ready room, poster sessions, evening hospitality suite, Wednesday
morning brunch, and Thursday night banquet). The JLL restaurants,
the Blue Heron bar and lounge, and a variety of shops and boutiques
are located here.
There is free
wireless internet access in the main building, including all of
the lecture halls and the elegant second-story lobby and Blue
Heron bar and lounge.
Lodging for
most conference participants will be in Jackson Lake Lodge cottages,
located in area #2, a two-or-three-minute walk from the main building.
The swimming pool is located in area #3.

An exterior
view of the main building. These windows face west, with a commanding
view of Jackson Lake and the Teton range. The lower windows on the
right are in the Mural dining room, the windows in the middle are
in the vaulted-ceiling second-floor lobby, and the windows on the
left are in the Explorer room, where the opening session, the Moissan
session, the ISoFT'09 award session, and the conference banquet
will be held.
This
area is perfect for taking sunrise and sunset pictures of the Teton
range and wildlife. For example, moose can be seen grazing within
100 meters of these benches on many mornings and evenings.

of the second-floor lobby of Jackson Lake Lodge main building. From
where the photographer was standing, the restaurants are to the
right, the large windows are behind, and the Blue Heron bar and
lounge are to the left.

The
Blue Heron bar and lounge (the outdoor portion of the lounge, where
drinks and food can also be ordered, is not visible in this photo).
Both the indoor and outdoor areas of the lounge also have a spectacular
view of Jackson lake and the Teton range. |

The
Mural dining room at sunrise. Despite the name, the images of Jackson
Lake and the Tetons are not murals (nor are they flat-panel
displays). You are seeing the lake and mountains through windows! |

The
interior of one of the Jackson Lake Lodge cottages before the extensive
renovations carried out during Fall 2008. All of the Jackson
Lake Lodge cottages reserved for our conference have now been renovated.
Several
of the conference co-organizers stayed in cottages such as these
in August 2008. Each cottage has a private bathroom and shower,
just to the right in this photograph. Even before the renovations,
these rooms were very comfortable, convenient, and quiet (not to
mention surrounded by tall trees - see area #2 in the first photograph
in this sequence).
Each
of the two beds shown are full-size beds. The renovated cottages
now have two queen-size beds or one king-size bed. Photographs taken
during August 2008 of one of the first newly renovated cottages
with a king-size bed are shown below. The bathroom/wet bar area
are to the right in those photographs. Two of the conference co-organizers
stayed in one of these cottages in June 2009 and can verify that
the renovations are a significant improvement over the previous
decor and beds.

This
is one of the Colter Bay Village cabins that will be available at
a reduced rate for students and postdocs. Each cabin has a private
bathroom with shower. Colter Bay cabins will not be renovated for
the 2009 season. |

the pool is open. The shallow kiddie pool is shown in the foreground.
Students and postdocs staying in cabins at Colter Bay Village can
also use the swimming pool at Jackson Lake Lodge. |
